Rankings: the best spots for one kind of food

Step by step: Rankings: the best spots for one kind of food
Step by step. It plays on its own.

Rankings are for creators who go spot by spot: the best wings in Charlotte, the best burgers, the best hoagies. Open your dashboard, press Rankings under Events, name the list and pick the kind of food. It starts as a draft.

Add a spot: the name, the address (start typing and pick it from the list, so it lands on the map), the rank (1 is best), a score out of 10 if you score, what to order, your take, and the link to your TikTok, Instagram or YouTube post about it. Readers tap to play the post right on your ranking. Move spots up and down with the arrows.

Publish it and it shows on your host page, in the rankings directory at charlottelist.com/rankings, and on the home page. Edits show right away. The link is charlottelist.com/@you/rankings/your-list.

Readers can search inside your list (spots, neighborhoods, what to order) and search the whole directory to see who ranked a spot. Signed-in readers can vote a spot up; a "Readers' order" button shows the list by votes next to yours. Turn voting off in the ranking's settings if you want your order to stand alone.

Readers can also suggest a spot for you to try, with what to order and why. Suggestions wait on the ranking's edit page; press "Add as a spot" to take one (it fills in the name and the order) or Pass. You get a phone alert for each one when alerts are on. Turn suggestions off in the settings any time.

A cover photo (16:9) makes your ranking stand out in the directory and when the link is shared. Until you add one, shared links show a card we draw for you: your photo, the title, your #1 spot and the number of spots.

How to do it

  1. Open your dashboard and press Rankings.
  2. Name the list, pick the food, press Start it.
  3. Add spots with the order, your take and your post. Publish.
