Charlotte List is an events platform for Charlotte, North Carolina. Hosts use it to post events, take RSVPs, sell tickets, and message their guests. This policy explains what we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Charlotte List is run by FOODIE GUY L.L.C. ("we", "us"). Questions go to hello@charlottelist.com.

What we collect

Account details

  • Your email address and name.
  • A phone number and profile photo, if you add them.
  • Passkeys: we store only the public key your device creates. Your fingerprint, face scan, or device PIN never leaves your device.

Sign in with Google

If you sign in with Google, Google sends us your name, email address, profile picture, and a Google account ID. We use them to create your account, sign you in, and show your name and photo. We never see your Google password. We do not ask for access to your Gmail, contacts, calendar, or files.

Host details

  • Your host name, handle, bio, and photo.
  • The events you post: titles, descriptions, dates, places, ticket types, and prices.
  • Your payout setup status from Stripe. Stripe collects your bank and identity details directly. We do not store them.

Guest details

  • Your name, email address, and phone number when you RSVP or buy a ticket.
  • Your orders, tickets, and check-in status.
  • Your location, one time, if you tap the button to check in with your phone. We use it to see that you are at the event. We do not save it.
  • Answers you give on an event form, such as an age confirmation or a waiver.

Payments

Card payments run through Stripe. We do not see or store full card numbers. We receive the amount, the payment status, and a reference to the payment. Some hosts take payment through Venmo, Cash App, PayPal, or Square. Those payments happen in those apps, under their terms and privacy policies.

Messages

We keep a record of the emails and texts sent through Charlotte List, whether they were delivered, and whether you opened an email or tapped a link in it. Hosts see these results for their own messages.

Photos

After you check in to an event, we may ask you to take a selfie. If you take one, it becomes your profile photo. Hosts of events you attend can see it on their guest list and when they check you in. You can change or remove it on your account page.

Some events have photo features. If you upload a photo or a selfie, we store it and show it where that event says it will appear.

Device and log data

We record sign-in times, your browser type, and a scrambled (hashed) form of your IP address. We use these to keep accounts secure and to stop abuse.

Cookies

We use a small number of cookies that the site needs to work: one keeps you signed in, and short-lived ones protect sign-in. We do not use advertising cookies.

How we use it

  • To run your account and keep it secure.
  • To issue tickets, take RSVPs, and check guests in.
  • To send you tickets, receipts, reminders, and updates about events you joined.
  • To send you marketing messages from hosts, only where you agreed to get them.
  • To email you when new events go live, only if you joined the heads-up list on our home page. You can leave that list from any of those emails.
  • To show a photo you added to an event's photo wall on our home page, only if you ticked the box for that when you added it. We show it with your first name and last initial and the event's name. You can take it back from your ticket page at any time.
  • To show hosts how their events and messages perform.
  • To prevent fraud and abuse, and to meet legal duties.

Who sees your information

  • Hosts. When you RSVP to or buy a ticket for an event, that event's host gets your name, email address, phone number if you gave one, and your ticket details. Each host manages their own guest list and is responsible for how they use it.
  • Other guests. Your name and profile photo can appear to other guests at an event, for example on a guest list or photo wall, when the event uses those features.
  • Service providers. We use Stripe for payments, Google for sign-in, an email delivery provider, a text message provider, an address lookup service, and our web host. They get only what they need to do their job for us.
  • Legal reasons. We share information when the law requires it, or to protect people, our users, or the service.
  • A change of ownership. If Charlotte List is sold or merged, your information can move to the new owner under this policy.

We do not sell your personal information.

Google user data

Our use of information received from Google APIs follows the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements. We use Google data only to sign you in and fill in your profile. We do not use it for advertising, and we do not sell it or share it with anyone except the service providers that help us run sign-in.

Text messages

  • We text you only if you gave your phone number and agreed to get texts.
  • Reply STOP to any text to opt out. Reply HELP for help.
  • Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency varies by event.
  • We do not share your phone number or your text message consent with third parties or affiliates for their marketing.

Email

Every marketing email has an unsubscribe link. Emails about your own tickets and orders still reach you while you hold a ticket.

How long we keep it

  • We keep your account details while your account is open.
  • We keep order and payment records for up to seven years, for tax and accounting.
  • Sign-in sessions end after 30 days without use.
  • When you ask us to delete your data, we follow the steps on the data deletion page.

Your choices

  • See and change your profile on your account page.
  • Remove a passkey or sign out of other devices on your account page.
  • Unsubscribe from marketing email, and reply STOP to texts.
  • Ask for a copy of your data, a correction, or deletion by emailing hello@charlottelist.com.
  • Remove Charlotte List from your Google account at any time in your Google account's third-party access settings.

Children

Charlotte List is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their information. You must be 18 or older to create an account. Some events have their own age limits.

Security

Charlotte List has no passwords to steal. Sign-in uses passkeys or Google. The site runs over an encrypted connection, and secrets are stored outside the public web folder. No system is perfect, so we cannot promise absolute security.

Changes to this policy

We will post changes on this page and update the date at the top. If a change is significant, we will tell account holders by email.
